Today, we’re sharing a story that captures the beauty of contrasts. It reminds us that even in the most challenging places, life has a way of offering profound lessons. Sometimes, the greatest gifts come from stepping out of our comfort zones and opening ourselves to what’s unfamiliar.
"How India became a teacher of perspective and presence" is the title of the article born from a one-month journey we took with the Background team in 2023. Our mission was to find stories to document, but what we encountered was far beyond what we expected. From the warmth of strangers inviting us to ceremonies, to the raw resilience of a young boy living alone in a temple, India left us with lessons we’ll carry forever.
It wasn’t just about the stories we sought but about what found us. A land of extremes, where beauty and hardship coexist, showed us that connection, generosity, and resilience thrive even in the harshest conditions.
